Tasked with a short timeline and a very busy couple, we showed our skill as an experienced Big Island Wedding Planner bringing this romantic Hawaii Destination Wedding to life with tons of floral details and jewel tone accents.
With 13 years as Big Island Wedding Planners, Coordinators and Designers, we have really seen it all! We have worked with some of the most demanding clientele around. Additionally, we have been tasked with some incredibly challenging projects.
This couple had less than 6 months to plan their destination wedding in Hawaii after a venue was selected. We knew we could make it happen given our experience planning luxury events in less time in the past. We once planned a $100k event in 3 months time!

The property shown here is the Mauna Lani Auberge.
As Big Island Wedding Planners, we have watched properties like the Mauna Lani change hands from long time owners to the new Auberge owners. While it still maintains some of the beauty of the original historic Hawaiian roots and did get a modern facelift, it isn’t our first choice for a wedding.
One thing in particular we hear from clients about the Auberge is the “lack of privacy” concern they report. The Surf Shack Lawn is directly in front of the Pool and Surf Shack Restaurant area and the Hoku Lawn is surrounded by hotel rooms. To get a more private reception, you have to choose the more expensive Ho’Aloha Pavilion area shown here. This area does not have an ocean view. It is also a significant walk – through the parking area -from the ceremony sites.
For a resort in a similar category, The Fairmont Orchid, which does not have restrictive room blocks, ranks higher on our list. The Fairmont Coconut Grove Wedding site can be used for both the ceremony and reception. Comparatively, it is well removed from the hotel rooms vs the main oceanfront options at the Mauna Lani Auberge.
Hiring us in the beginning of your venue selection process can save you a lot of hassle and unexpected expenses.
We would love to help you choose the right venue for you. It is so important to have an inside perspective. Let us prepare you for what it is really like to host a wedding at a resort property like the Mauna Lani Auberge and others.
There are some significant differences between each one that are not necessarily obvious right from the start. Unexpected fees, food and beverage minimums, and expensive upgrades are some of the ways we have seen clients be surprised by the final costs of their wedding at some resort properties. If we are helping you from the start, we can shed light on what to expect before you sign a contract.
