On Hawaii Island, we are lucky to have many truly spectacular Wedding Venues. From gorgeous beaches to world class resorts, the Big Island has it all.
If you are looking for a more private option though, a private estate wedding venue might be the perfect choice for you. This category of venues is particularly challenging to navigate from afar as there are many Hawaii vacation rentals online but many of those don’t allow weddings on site. We can help you by taking all the searching and scrolling out of it and provide you with a list of all the best private wedding location options on the island.
When planning a private estate wedding in Hawaii, it is important to consider your guest count.
There are only a handful of private venues that will allow more than 50 or so and some are ideal for much smaller groups such as 20 or less. However, if you are envisioning an intimate wedding or elopement, there is no shortage of absolutely breathtaking and uniquely Hawaiian options to consider.
In addition to being mindful of guest count, there are a number of other special considerations for private homes and venues when it comes to hosting weddings. For example, you may need to consider less glamorous things in the planning such as ensuring there is ample parking or transportation option and making sure you talk through logistics like ice, trash removal, and catering service specifics with your food and beverage provider. This is one reason we highly recommend booking our Planning Service if you decide to go the route of a private venue. It is critically important everything has been thought of for a smooth event.
With that said, if privacy and spectacular scenery are a priority to you, a private venue might be the perfect option for your destination Hawaii Wedding!
Here is a short list of some of our very favorites and why!
Holualoa Inn Weddings in Holualoa, Hawaii
Set on the slopes of Hualalai Volcano in the Kona Coffee community of Holualoa, this boutique inn boasts sweeping views over the Kona Coast in a lush tropical garden setting. Their covered pavilion is perfect for larger weddings and provides a beautiful and protected reception space in case of a light shower, which can be more common at this elevation. The possibility or rain or fog hiding the view or forcing the ceremony under cover is a concern so if you are not comfortable with a that risk, we would suggest elsewhere.
Puakea Ranch Weddings in Kohala
While a ranch may not be what you first envision when it comes to a wedding in Hawaii, Puakea Ranch has a rich and authentic story to tell about the Big Island. This venue is ever so charming and unexpected with quaint yet lux small home style accomodations perfectly styled and produces some of the most romantic photos we’ve seen.
Elopements at Hale Kukui near Waipio Valley
Overlooking the breathtaking Waipio Valley, it is hard to imagine a more picturesque and private backdrop for an intimate wedding in Hawaii. If you envision a truly unique location and have a very small guest count, this hidden gem is unforgettable.
Weddings at Hokukano Bay House in Kona
Located just minutes from the town of Kona and set right on a private ocean bay, this location offers a truly tropical setting. The Balinese inspired architecture and lush garden are fronted by a small sandy patch perfect for an oceanfront ceremony.
There are many more stunning venues to choose from on the island and we would be more than happy to discuss those with you to help you choose the right venue for your Hawaii wedding.
